Each butterfly is individually packaged inside a release envelope prior to shipment. Envelopes are designed from a high quality #111 thick paper mold specifically designed to protect each butterfly during shipment and until their release.
All envelopes have an easy opening setup for all ages with a simple rubber-band closure, allowing for a fast and safe synchronized release.

An individual release refers to each butterfly being provided in its own triangle-shaped envelope, ideal for distributing among guests at events like weddings, parties, or memorials. This method facilitates a group or synchronized release, making it a popular choice for occasions involving gatherings of people.
When your butterflies arrive, it's important to ensure they are in good condition. Here's what to do:
Remember, the butterflies are shipped with dry ice to maintain a cool temperature, which keeps them calm and may reduce noticeable movement. If you don't hear anything:
For detailed release instructions, refer to the guide below, the video after order completion or the instructions included in the box upon arrival.
At least one hour before the release, take the butterflies out from the insulated box and away from any ice packs. This step is crucial for allowing them to gradually warm up, preparing their bodies and wings for flight.
It is important to avoid placing the butterflies in direct sunlight, near a heating source, or in excessively hot environments such as a parked vehicle or a heated room. The goal is to allow them to warm up naturally, without overheating.
When distributing the butterflies to guests, kindly remind them that the containers hold live butterflies. Advise them to handle the containers gently and wait for the scheduled release time.
During checkout, you have the option to personalize each butterfly release envelope with names, dates, phrases, or any text of your choosing.
This feature is particularly popular for events like weddings and funerals, allowing for a personalized touch. You might consider adding the names of the bride and groom, special dates, or meaningful verses.
Please note that there is a limit of 75 characters per envelope for customization.

It's important to note that butterflies are scheduled to arrive the day before your event to avoid any complications with day-of delivery, such as potential delays or lost shipments. For events on Sundays, we recommend a Friday delivery, as a missed Saturday delivery would result in a Monday arrival. Please be aware that some locations may not offer Saturday delivery.
For Tuesday events, your butterflies will be delivered on the event day itself. FedEx does not ship on Sundays, and to adhere to our ethical standards against having live butterflies in hot warehouses over the weekend, we dispatch them on Monday for a Tuesday delivery, typically by 10:30 AM in most areas.
The optimal period for releasing butterflies, ensuring their best flight and activity, traditionally spans from mid-April to mid-October in most regions of the United States.
This is due to their need for warmer weather conditions. However, there may be limited exceptions subject to availability and favorable weather conditions outside of this timeframe.
Yes, certain environmental regulations prohibit the shipment or release of specific butterfly species in certain areas. Please note:

This is most common with Painted Lady Butterflies, as they excrete a red liquid which is sometimes mistaken for blood when in reality it is actually meconium, "pupal fluid" which isn't blood at all. It is made up of waste material that is produced during the pupal stage. Contact Us
